Factbird MCP: frequently asked questions

Is my factory data safe when I use the MCP with third-party AI agents?

The Factbird MCP sends your data over a secure, encrypted (HTTPS) connection, up to the point where it reaches your AI harness, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Google Antigravity 2.0.

After the data reaches your AI harness, your agreement with that AI provider controls how the provider stores and uses it. Check your AI provider's data and privacy settings before you connect the MCP.

Can the MCP show me data that I cannot see in Factbird?

No. You sign in to the MCP with your own Factbird account. The MCP can only get the data that your Factbird login can access. If you cannot see a line, factory or area in Factbird, your AI agent cannot see it either.

What queries are supported by the MCP?

At the time of writing, the MCP supports production KPI queries, such as OEE, downtime, stops and output, for a line, a factory or your whole operation. We continuously add support for more queries. For the full list, see Supported queries and usage advice for the Factbird MCP.

At the time of writing, the MCP is read-only. Your AI agent can read Factbird data, but it cannot change it.

Why use the MCP instead of our existing BI tool?

The MCP is quick to set up, and it lets one agent combine Factbird data with your other data sources, such as ERP or maintenance systems. With a BI tool, you connect your data and then build a dashboard. With the MCP, you connect your data and ask questions in plain language.

You can still use your BI tool. The MCP gives you another way to explore the same data with a different interface.

Can I use the MCP with AI harnesses other than Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot?

Yes. The Factbird MCP works with any AI harness that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in through Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD) or Dynamic Client Registration (DCR). For example, Google Antigravity 2.0.

To connect, add the MCP URL https://api.cloud.factbird.com/mcp where your harness manages connectors, then sign in with your Factbird account. If you are not sure that your harness supports CIMD or DCR, check its documentation or contact support@factbird.com.

What does the MCP cost?

The MCP is included in the Factbird platform at no extra cost. You manage your own third-party AI harness subscriptions, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot.
