How to create an activity

SUMMARY

Use this guide to create an activity that operators can complete during production. Activities help standardize production, quality, and maintenance tasks by guiding operators through a digital form and recording the completed information.

WHEN TO USE THIS

Use this guide if:

  • You want to digitize a production, quality, or maintenance process.
  • You need operators to complete a recurring task.
  • You want to collect information as part of an operational workflow.

PREREQUISITES

Before starting:

  • You have permission to manage activities.
  • You have access to the Administration page.
  • You know which production line or location the activity will be assigned to.

STEPS

  1. Navigate to Activities.
  2. Select the Manage Activities tab.
  3. Click Create Activity.
     
  4. Enter the basic activity information, including the activity name and description.
  5. Build the activity by adding the required form elements:
    • Text fields
    • Number fields
    • Checkboxes
    • Multiple choice questions
    • Images
    • Instructions
    • Pass/Fail questions
    • Date and time fields
       
  6. Configure how the activity should be triggered.

    Choose the trigger that best matches your process, for example:

    • Manual
    • Time-based
    • Shift start or end
    • Batch start or end
    • Production count
    • Stop event
  7. Configure any additional activity settings, such as:
    • Mandatory fields
    • Electronic signatures
    • Multi-Level Sign-Off
    • Notifications
    • Completion behaviour
       
  8. Assign the activity to the appropriate production line or location.
  9. Click Save.

EXPECTED RESULT

After completing these steps:

  • The activity is available on the assigned production line.
  • The activity will become available according to its configured trigger.
  • Operators can complete the activity and the results will be recorded in Factbird.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Issue: The activity does not appear for operators.

  • Try:Verify that the activity has been assigned to the correct production line.

  • Try: Check that the trigger conditions have been met.

  • Try: Confirm the activity has been saved and enabled.

 

Issue: The wrong activity is triggered.

  • Try: Review the configured trigger.

  • Try: Confirm the activity has been assigned to the correct production line or batch.

     

Issue: Operators cannot complete the activity.

  • Try: Verify that all required fields have been configured correctly.

  • Try: Check the operator's permissions.
  • Try: Confirm whether electronic signatures or approvals are required.
