SUMMARY
Use this guide to connect the Factbird View hardware, establish an internet connection, mount the camera, associate the device with a Factbird sensor, and view recorded video from the Live page. Factbird View synchronizes camera images with production data so you can review video from specific points on the production graph.
WHEN TO USE THIS
Use this guide if:
- You are installing a new Factbird View.
- You need to connect a Factbird View using Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- You need to associate a Factbird View with a production sensor or line.
- You want to view production video from the Live page.
PREREQUISITES
Before starting:
- A Factbird View device is available.
- The supplied USB camera and power supply are available.
- An Ethernet connection or supported Wi-Fi network is available.
- You have access to the Factbird application.
- You have permission to configure devices and attached sensors.
- Your IT team has completed any required firewall or MAC-address whitelisting.
Network requirements
If your IT network uses a restrictive firewall, whitelist:

*.amazonaws.comusing TCP ports80and443. -
*.google.comusing UDP port123. - The Ethernet and Wi-Fi MAC addresses provided for the Factbird View device.
Contact Factbird Support if your IT team requires additional network information.
STEPS

Connect the camera and power supply
- Connect the USB camera to the Factbird View.
- Connect the power supply to the Factbird View.
- Plug the power supply into an electrical outlet.
- Confirm that the power indicator turns on.

Connect the Factbird View to the internet
Choose either Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Ethernet
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the Factbird View.
- Allow the device 1–2 minutes to establish a full connection.
Wi-Fi
- Wait approximately one minute after powering on the device.
- On a phone, computer, or tablet, connect to the temporary Wi-Fi hotspot named Factbird-View-xxxxx.
- When redirected to the setup page, select your company Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password.
- Allow the device 1–2 minutes to establish a full connection.
Note
Factbird View supports Wi-Fi networks where users select a network and enter a password directly. Networks that require browser-based captive portal authentication or WPA2-Enterprise are not supported.

Verify the communication status
Check the red communication indicator on the Factbird View:
- Slow red blinking: No internet connection has been established.
- Fast red blinking: Internet is connected, but video is not streaming.
- Solid red: Internet is connected and video is streaming.

Mount the camera
- Mount the camera at the required location on the production line.
- Position the camera so it has a clear view of the production area you want to record.
- If using Wi-Fi, place the Factbird View where it receives a reliable Wi-Fi signal.

Associate the Factbird View with a sensor
- Log in to the Factbird application.
- Open the main menu using the hamburger icon in the upper-left corner.
- Open the device overview.
- Search for the Factbird View.
- Open the three-dot menu for the device.
- Select Device settings.
- Select Attached sensors from the left menu.
- Click the + button.
- Select the Factbird sensor you want to associate with the Factbird View.

View production video
- Open the Live page for the sensor associated with the Factbird View.
- If the Factbird View is attached to the main sensor of a line, you can also open the line's Live page.
- Select a data point on the production graph.
- Click the camera button to view the synchronized video.
EXPECTED RESULT
After completing these steps:
- The Factbird View is powered on and connected to the internet.
- The USB camera is streaming video.
- The camera is mounted at the production line.
- The Factbird View is associated with the required sensor.
- Video can be opened from data points on the Live production graph.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Issue: The communication indicator is blinking slowly.
Try: Verify the Ethernet cable is connected correctly.
Try: Confirm the Wi-Fi network name and password.
- Try: Check whether your firewall or MAC-address allowlist is blocking the connection.
Issue: The communication indicator is blinking quickly.
Try: Confirm the USB camera is connected securely.
- Try: Restart the Factbird View.
- Try: Contact Factbird Support if the internet connection works but video still does not stream.
Issue: The temporary Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear.
Try: Wait at least one minute after powering on the device.
- Try: Restart the Factbird View and check again.
- Try: Confirm the setup device is close enough to detect the hotspot.
Issue: Video is unavailable on the Live page.
Try: Verify that the Factbird View is associated with the correct sensor.
- Try: Confirm the communication indicator is solid red.
- Try: Select a data point on the production graph before clicking the camera button.
