How to configure products for batch tracking

SUMMARY

Use this guide to configure products for batch tracking in Factbird. Configured products allow the system to apply product-specific speeds, multipliers, and production targets when creating batches.

 

WHEN TO USE THIS

  • Use this guide if:
    • You want to use products as presets during batch creation
    • Different products on the same line require different targets or speeds
    • You need product-specific performance tracking
    • You want to configure product parameters for changeover tracking

PREREQUISITES

  • Before starting:
    • You must have access to the line settings and Batch tab
    • You should know the expected speed, validated speed, and multiplier values for the product
    • Each product must have a unique item number

STEPS

  1. Open the line where you want to configure products.
  2. Go to the Batch tab.
  3. Click + button and then Manage products.
  4. Click Add product.
  5. Enter a unique Item number for the product.
  6. Enter the Product name.
  7. Configure the Expected speed.
    • This value is used to calculate planned production performance.
  8. Configure the Validated speed.
    • This value is used for validated production targets.
  9. Configure the Data multiplier.
    • Use the multiplier that matches how production data should be counted for the product.
  10. (Optional) Add custom product parameters.
    • Examples:
      • Barcode
      • Material size
      • Packaging material
  11. Review the product configuration.
  12. Click Save.
     

EXPECTED RESULT

  • After completing these steps:
    • The product is available when creating batches
    • Product-specific speeds and multipliers are automatically applied during batch creation
    • Product parameters can be used for changeover tracking and reporting
       

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Issue: The product cannot be saved
    • Try: Verify that the item number is unique
    • Try: Confirm that all required fields are completed
       
  • Issue: The product does not appear during batch creation
    • Try:Refresh the page
    • Try:Confirm the product was saved on the correct line
       
  • Issue: Historical batch performance changed unexpectedly
    • Try: Check whether the product speed or multiplier was recently updated
    • Try: Remember that changing product speeds or multipliers updates past batches using that product
