Shift Dashboard

SUMMARY

The Shift Dashboard provides a real-time overview of how a production shift is performing compared to its target. It allows operators and teams on the shop floor to quickly see shift progress, production performance, and expected outcomes.

WHAT THIS IS

  • The Shift Dashboard is a visual display that summarizes production performance for a specific shift. It presents live production data in a format that is easy to understand at a glance.

  • While management may monitor production through the Live page, the Shift Dashboard is designed to make shift performance visible to operators on the production floor. It is commonly displayed on large screens or TVs above the production line so that teams can continuously monitor progress.

  • The dashboard combines historical and real-time information to show how the current shift is progressing relative to production targets. This allows operators to quickly understand whether production is on track, ahead, or behind expectations.

WHY IT MATTERS

  • Production teams need visibility into how the current shift is performing so they can react quickly if production falls behind schedule. Without a clear overview, it can be difficult for operators to understand whether current performance is meeting expectations.

  • The Shift Dashboard solves this by automatically calculating shift targets and visualizing progress throughout the shift. By making production performance visible in real time, teams can stay aligned on goals and maintain awareness of shift performance.

WHEN YOU WOULD USE THIS

  • Use this when:

    • Monitoring how the current production shift is progressing

    • Displaying shift performance for operators on the shop floor

    • Comparing actual production output to shift targets

    • Understanding how the previous shift performed

HOW IT WORKS

  • The Shift Dashboard gathers live production data and shift configuration information to calculate production targets and progress throughout the shift. The system continuously updates the display as production data changes.

  • The dashboard is organized into three main sections that provide different levels of context about shift performance.

  • The left section displays performance from the previous shift, including the total produced amount. This provides immediate context for how production performed earlier.

  • The center section visualizes the current shift as a progress chart. This allows operators to quickly see how production is advancing over time and whether it is keeping pace with expectations.

  • The right section provides a detailed summary of the current shift. This includes the shift target, the actual number of units produced compared to the expected amount at that point in time, and the estimated time when production is expected to reach completion.

  • Together, these elements create a live overview that allows teams to understand shift performance without needing to analyze detailed reports.

KEY TERMS / COMPONENTS

  • Shift Dashboard:

    • A real-time visual display that shows production performance and progress for the current shift.

  • Shift Target:

    • The planned production quantity expected to be completed during the shift.

  • Actual vs Expected Production:

    • A comparison between the number of units actually produced and the amount that should have been produced based on the shift plan.

  • Shift Progress Chart:

    • A visual chart that displays how production is progressing during the current shift.

  • Estimated Time of Completion:

    • A calculated estimate of when the production target will be reached based on current performance.

  • Previous Shift Performance:

    • A summary of the production results from the prior shift, used for comparison and context.

COMMON MISUNDERSTANDINGS

  • The Shift Dashboard is only for managers

    • The dashboard is designed to be visible to operators and teams on the shop floor so they can understand shift performance in real time.

  • The dashboard only shows historical data

    • The Shift Dashboard updates continuously with live production data during the shift.

  • Shift targets must be manually calculated

    • The system automatically calculates and visualizes shift targets and progress.
