Introduction
If a Factbird DUO loses its connection and does not come back online after a power cycle, a manual connection reset may be required. This situation can occur if the device has trouble reconnecting to the mobile network or if the connection becomes unstable or unresponsive.
Only perform this procedure if power cycling the device did not resolve the issue.
A manual connection reset forces the DUO to reset its connection and establish a fresh connection to the network. This guide explains how to perform this reset by holding the internal USER button for 15 seconds.
When to Perform a Connection Reset
Use this procedure if:
The DUO is offline and does not reconnect after a power cycle.
The status LED is blinking red (For Firmware version less than 4.0.0) or keeps switching between red and green (Firmware version higher than 4.0.0) without coming online.
This procedure is not for clearing Wi-Fi credentials.
It is only for restoring connectivity.
Before You Start
Make sure:
The device is powered on.
You have removed the device lid to access the internal USER button and LED indicators.
You can clearly see the status LED inside the DUO.
How to Perform the reset
With the DUO powered on, locate the USER button inside the unit.
-
Press and hold the button continuously for 15 seconds.
Keep holding until the LED changes state to a white status LED.
Releasing too early will not trigger a full connection reset.
After 15 seconds, release the button.
The device will restart its modem and request new connection credentials.
Within a few minutes, the DUO should reconnect to the Factbird system.
What You Should See
After releasing the button:
The modem LEDs will briefly turn off.
The device will start a fresh connection registration process.
Once successful, the status LED should turn green (online).
If the device does not reconnect after several minutes, repeat the procedure once. If it still does not return online, contact Factbird Support.
Tip
After the DUO reconnects, it is recommended to:
Check for firmware updates: Update Factbird DUO firmware version.
Ensure it is not placed inside a shielded cabinet that blocks cellular or Wi-Fi reception.
